Your online collection limit, and how to raise it
edunile limits how much a school collects online in any 30 days until it has confirmed its registration. Here is what counts, where to see your limit, and how to raise it — a Business Name is fine.
When parents pay school fees online through edunile, the money passes through edunile's payment partners on its way to your bank account. To keep that safe for everyone, each school has a limit on how much it can collect online in any 30 days. The limit goes up as your school confirms who it is, and with your subscription plan.
Nothing about the limit stops you using edunile. You can still send bills, record payments, and message parents. The limit only affects online card, transfer and USSD payments made through the edunile payment page.
Where to see your limit
Open Settings from your dashboard menu and choose Finance & Compliance. The Online collection limit card at the top shows:
- how much your school has collected online in the last 30 days;
- your limit, and whether it is set by your verification level or by your plan;
- the three verification levels, with a tick against each one your school has reached.
Only staff who manage fees see this card.
How the limit is worked out
There are two ladders, and your limit is the lower of the two:
- Verification level. Setting up your payout account puts you on the first level. Confirming your school's registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) moves you to the second, which has a much higher limit.
- Your plan. Each subscription plan also has a limit, which grows with the number of students it covers.
So if your plan allows more than your verification level does, verifying raises your limit. If your verification level already allows more, upgrading your plan does.
Raise your limit by confirming your CAC registration
Find your registration number
It is on your CAC certificate. A Business Name number usually starts with BN, a company number with RC, and incorporated trustees with IT. If you can't find the certificate, search your school's name on the CAC public search website.
Enter it in Finance & Compliance
In Settings → Finance & Compliance, find the School Registration (CAC) card. Choose the type of registration, type the number (for example BN1234567), and click Verify school.
Wait a minute
edunile checks the number with the CAC register. This usually takes under a minute, and you can carry on working while it runs. When it finishes, the card says your school is verified and your limit goes up straight away.
If the check says your registration isn't active
The CAC marks a registration inactive when its annual returns haven't been filed. If that happens, contact edunile support with your certificate — we can review it and approve your school by hand while you bring the registration up to date.
Raise your limit by upgrading your plan
If the card says your plan sets your limit, open Settings → Billing and choose a larger plan. The new limit applies as soon as the plan changes.
What parents see if the limit is reached
If a school reaches its limit, the edunile payment page tells parents that online payment is temporarily unavailable and asks them to pay the school directly, with your school's phone number. Nothing is taken from them, and any payment a parent had already started still goes through.
As you approach the limit, a warning appears at the top of the Finance page, so you have time to verify or upgrade first. As your older payments pass the 30-day mark, your room to collect online comes back by itself.
Need a higher limit?
Large schools that collect more than the second level allows can ask edunile for a review. Email support@edunile.ng with your school's name and your CAC certificate.
