How much does school management software cost in Nigeria?

The short answer
Schools in Nigeria meet a few ways of paying for school management software: a price per student per term, a flat price by school size, one-off setup charges, and charges on fees parents pay online. What a school really pays depends on its number of students and on everything outside the headline price. On edunile, a school of up to 150 students pays ₦100,000 a term, up to 500 pays ₦275,000 and up to 1,000 pays ₦500,000, after a free 30-day pilot.
What pricing models will a Nigerian school meet?
A quote is built from one or more of the models below. Two quotes that look far apart can come to the same total once everything is added, so ask for the price of a full session, three terms, at your student count.
| Model | How it is charged | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Per student, per term | A rate multiplied by the students on roll each term. | Who counts as a student, and whether the rate rises as you grow. |
| Flat price by school size | One price for a band, such as up to 150 or up to 500 students. | What happens if you pass the top of the band mid-session. |
| One-off setup charge | Paid once, to open the account and set the school up. | What it buys: setup, training, bringing in your records. |
| Free plan with paid extras | Nothing to start; report cards or messages are paid for separately. | Which extras you will need by the end of the first term. |
| Charges on online fee payments | A charge on each fee a parent pays online. | Who pays it, the school or the parent, and whether it is shown before payment. |
What makes the price go up or down?
- Number of students. Per-student and size-band prices both rise with it, so count the students you expect at the start of next session, not today.
- How often you pay. Paying for a year can cost less than paying term by term. On edunile, a 500-student school pays ₦700,000 for the year against ₦825,000 for three terms.
- Messages to all parents. A fee reminder to one parent and a notice to the whole school can be priced differently. Count only the parents who agreed to receive messages from the school, because WhatsApp’s rules allow no one else.
- More than one campus, or a group of schools under one proprietor.
What hidden costs should a school ask about?
Before the proprietor signs, ask for each of these in writing:
- Setup and training. Is it included, and how many of your staff does it cover?
- Moving your records. Who brings your students, parents and past fees across from Excel or your old system, and is there a charge?
- Report cards. Is there a charge per term or per student?
- Messages to parents. Software that messages parents through the WhatsApp Business Platform starts each conversation with a message template WhatsApp has approved, and Meta charges the business for each template message it delivers, priced by the kind of message and the parent's country. Ask whether reminders and receipts are included or billed per parent.
- Payment charges. Every payment provider charges for each online payment. Ask whether the school or the parent pays it, how much it is on a typical fee, and whether parents see it before they pay.
- Leaving. Can you download all your records if you stop paying?
What would a 150, 500 or 1,000-student school pay on edunile?
These are the prices on the edunile pricing page, in naira. The last column divides the term price by the most students the plan covers; a school with fewer students pays the same plan price.
| School size | Plan | Monthly | Per term | Per year | Per student, per term |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 150 students | Starter (up to 150 students) | ₦29,000 | ₦100,000 | ₦255,000 | about ₦667 |
| 500 students | Growth (up to 500 students) | ₦86,000 | ₦275,000 | ₦700,000 | about ₦550 |
| 1,000 students | Scale (up to 1,000 students) | ₦145,000 | ₦500,000 | ₦1,275,000 | about ₦500 |
On edunile, schools of 2,000+ students get a custom price.
What do messages and payment charges add on edunile?
- Fee reminders, bills and receipts on WhatsApp are unlimited on every paid plan.
- A message to every parent at once (a broadcast, such as "School resumes Monday") costs ₦150 per parent reached on Starter. Growth includes 4 a term, then ₦100 per parent; Scale includes 8 a term, then ₦80 per parent.
- The parent pays the payment charge on top of the fee, never more than ₦2,500 on one payment, and the school receives the full fee. The payment page shows the exact charge and the total before the parent taps Pay. For example, ₦1,116.76 on a ₦50,000 fee, ₦2,131.98 on ₦100,000, and ₦2,500 on ₦200,000 or anything above it.
What does the 30-day pilot include?
Full access to every feature in your plan, with no card required to start and no automatic renewal. You choose if and when to subscribe. If you continue, your records and setup carry over, so nothing is entered twice.
What edunile does here
edunile prices by the number of students, in naira, and lets a school pay monthly, by the term or for the year. Every plan starts with the 30-day pilot. Importing your whole student list from Excel is part of every plan, and the full list of what each plan includes is on the pricing page.
Fees parents pay online go straight from the payment provider to the school’s own bank account. The parent pays the payment charge on top of the fee, never more than ₦2,500 on one payment, and the school receives the full fee.
Common questions
Is free school management software really free?
Check what the free plan leaves out. List what you will need by the end of the first term (report cards, fee reminders, receipts) and ask what each of those costs, because that is where the cost will show up.
Does edunile charge per student or per school?
Per school, by plan. Each plan covers up to a number of students, so a school pays the plan price whether it has 100 students or 150.
Can a school pay per term instead of monthly?
Yes. edunile can be paid monthly, by the term or for the year, and the yearly price is the lowest of the three.
Who pays the charge when parents pay school fees online?
On edunile the parent pays the payment charge on top of the fee, never more than ₦2,500 on one payment, and the school receives the full fee. The payment page shows the exact charge and the total before the parent taps Pay.
What happens after the 30-day pilot?
You pick a plan and carry on. Your records, setup and settings all carry over. If you do not subscribe, nothing renews and no card is charged.
